Spotlight: State of the Climate Report
The State of the Climate in 2021 was released on Aug 31! The report, compiled by NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, is based on contributions from scientists around the world. Released each summer, the State of the Climate is the authoritative annual summary of the global climate, fully peer-reviewed and published as a supplement to the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
Whether you dip into the Introduction—which describes the complexity of Earth’s climate system evident in 2021—or dive into all six regional chapters and the supplemental data sets, this 32nd issuance of the annual State of the Climate Report provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events, and other data collected by environmental monitoring stations and instruments located on land, water, ice, and in space.
