Blocks of rooms have been reserved at Phoenix hotels with special rates. Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please use the AMS hotels to help the Society avoid penalties for not filling its hotel block.
Reservations are made directly with the hotel of choice. Be sure to indicate that you are with the American Meteorological Society when making reservations to receive our special rates. SuperShuttle service is available from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and the hotels that are part of the AMS room block, including the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, Wyndham Phoenix, Springhill Suites by Marriott, Hotel San Carlos, Holiday Inn Midtown North Hampton Inn Midtown, and Best Western Central. Airport pickup and dropoff are all complimentary through the Embassy Suites.
Attendees will receive a $4-off roundtrip coupon when booking online. To book a reservation online, visit the SuperShuttle Web site (www.supershuttle.com and enter the discount code 267WQ).
Regular rates vary by hotel from $12.00 to $14.00 per guest, per direction. There will be an additional $1.00 fuel surcharge per person, per direction.
Upon arrival at the airport, attendees should claim their luggage and then proceed outside the Baggage Claim area at each terminal to a sign marked “Shared Ride VAN SERVICE.” A Guest Service Representative will arrange SuperShuttle service to the destination hotel. Attendees should identify themselves to the SuperShuttle agent/driver and provide the online confirmation number.
Upon departure, attendees should be ready at their hotel’s designated shuttle/taxi pickup location. The hotel front desk will be able to help identify the location. SuperShuttle will arrive within the 15 minutes of the pickup time selected when booked online.

Local Ground Transportation
Two shuttle buses routes will provide service for the hotels that are not within walking distance of the convention center. The Embassy Suites and the Marriott Phoenix Airport will be on the East Route and the Holiday Inn Midtown, Hampton Inn Midtown, and Best Western Central will be on the North Route. Shuttle buses will run as follows:

Phoenix Light Rail System
The METRO light rail is set to start running in late-Decemeber 2008. The service day begins at 4:40 a.m. on all platforms. Trains depart all platforms for the last full trip of the evening at 11 p.m., arriving at their respective ends of-the line at midnight.
The fares are as follows: light rail and local bus, single ride, $1.25; all-day pass, $2.50; 3-day pass, $7.50; and 7-day pass, $17.50. For more information, please reference the Valley Metro Web site (http://www.valleymetro.org/metro_light_rail/about_light_rail/).
Car Rental
