Every statement, after passing review by the drafting committee and the AMS Council in draft form, is posted for comments from the AMS membership. The following three statements are open for Member Comment until 18 February:
  1. Communicating Scientific Uncertainty in Weather, Water, and Climate Science
  2. Weather Safety at Venus and Public Gatherings
  3. Lightning Safety

Two more AMS Statements recently received final approval and are now in force:

  1. Atmospheric Ozone
  2. Best Practices for the Dissemination of Weather Warnings to the Public

Verner Suomi
The Life and Work of the Founder of Satellite Meteorology
Born in a Minnesotan mining town, Suomi would spend his best years next door in Wisconsin, but not before seeing the whole world—from space, that is. This is the story of the scientist, inventor, and teacher who founded satellite meteorology, written by members of the communities that grew up around his groundbreaking work.
