Gerald J. Mulvey is the President and Chief Scientist at Nighthawk Weather LLC. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at York College, Masters of Science in Atmospheric Science at State University of New York at Albany, and Doctorate in Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. During his 30+ year career in aerospace and high technology, he was also cross trained in system engineering and project management. He has previously taught at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Francisco State University, Colorado State University, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
He is a Life Senior Member of the International Society for Measurement and Control, and an Emeritus Member of the American Meteorological Society where he is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist. Dr. Mulvey is also a member of the Texas Academy of Science, Irish Meteorological Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Sigma Xi, Texas Historical Society, and the Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas. He has over 60 publications, posters, conference presentations, and webinars in meteorology, education, engineering, and ethics. The presentations have included television appearances on WOAI News4 San Antonio, KLRN (PBS) SciTech Now, and Texas Public Radio addressing climate change He has received over 25 industrial and civic honors and awards, including the Library Commissioner's Award (Cupertino, CA) and the Cusack Family Award (Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas). His current research interests include ethics in meteorology, the urban heat island, education, and sustainable building materials. His hobbies include history and weather. Dr. Mulvey serves the community as a volunteer speaker at local schools and senior living facilities, and volunteers at the Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. He currently resides in San Antonio with his wife Allison.
