Anthony Yanez is the morning meteorologist for KPRC's weekday newscasts. He moved from Los Angeles after working for KNBC six and a half years.
Yanez earned the 2020 best weathercast by the Radio & Television New Association of Southern California. He was recently named the recipient of the AMS award for excellence in science reporting by a broadcast meteorologist. The award will be presented at the AMS annual conference in January 2022 in Houston.
Yanez also won two Emmys while at KNBC.
Yanez is an active community member who is passionate about teaching youth about his profession. He is a published author of the children’s book 'A Wild Ride on the Water Cycle, A Jake and Alice Adventure,' a tale of two water drops.
Yanez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Mass Communications from the University of New Mexico. He earned his broadcast meteorology certificate from Mississippi State University.
Yanez is a sports enthusiast and has competed in cycling races, triathlons and half marathons. He also enjoys golf, tennis and skiing.
