In support of the AMS goal of diversifying the future workforce of the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise (WWCE), and in alignment with the Biden Administration’s Executive Order (EO 14035), the Reach committee is being formed to engage and connect students and teachers in underserved and marginalized communities to professionals in the WWCE. These connections will enlighten and inspire students to consider careers in the Weather, Water, and Climate sectors and enable them to fully understand all of the potential opportunities that exist.
This group will connect and work with existing AMS teams, initiatives, and staff to develop and foster connections and relationships across all parts of the communities we serve, ensuring everyone has equal access to resources and opportunities. These connections will be made utilizing the partnerships listed in the Activities section. A long term goal and hope is that these efforts will eventually result in fully diverse hiring panels for future jobs in the WWCE.
