Partnerships between the emergency management community, and the Weather Enterprise, are strengthened through facilitated discussions and meetings by the AMS. These partnerships ultimately lead to improved decision making and community resilience, two key aspects of building a Weather-Ready Nation.
Mission: Develop approaches that engage the AMS weather, water and climate enterprise with the broader emergency management community. This effort will help to expand collaboration, cooperation and mutual understanding between the enterprise and members of the emergency management community across federal, state, academic, private, tribe and tribal nation, and local interests. This committee will address challenges, opportunities, and issues centered on the topic of environmental information and its use within the emergency management community for decision making purposes. Regular communications with key groups (such as the International Association of Emergency Managers and National Emergency Managers Association) will be used to foster further collaboration opportunities and sessions will be held at AMS meetings as appropriate.
