The AMS Agricultural and Forest Meteorology STAC represents the membership on the subdiscipline surface-atmosphere exchange with a focus on feedbacks between the land surface and lower atmospheric processes (atmospheric surface layer), and how these influence climate, weather variability, and atmospheric impacts to near-surface atmospheric turbulent transport, forests, agricultural systems, and ecosystems in general. Committee members span expertise in atmospheric turbulence, plant hydrology, eddy covariance measurement, large eddy simulation (LES), agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, land surface biophysics modeling, forest fire meteorology, and ecosystem ecology.
Our primary activies include hosting a biannual speciality conference, often joint with the Board on Atmospheric Biogeosciences or Boundary Layers and Turbulence, and contributing to selection for the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biometeorology.
