The results for the election of the 2023 AMS President-Elect (President in 2024) and Council are now in. The elected leaders of AMS are shown here.* AMS congratulates those who were elected, and thank all of the candidates who ran for their commitment to AMS and their ongoing service to the weather, water, and climate community.
The AMS Nominating Committee invites AMS members to recommend nominees for President-Elect and Council each year, to include self-nominations. As an organization committed to being an inclusive and diverse community, we seek nominees with a wide range of qualifications and capabilities. From the list of nominees, those who are selected to be candidates for Councilor or President-Elect are those recommended by the Nominating Committee and deemed by the AMS Council to have the greatest potential to advance the Society during their terms of service. Please email your recommendations to the Nominating Committee by December 31, in the form of one paragraph describing why the nominee would contribute substantially to advancing the Society in the nominated role. Please note if the person being recommended has been informed of the nomination.
Separately, in accordance with the AMS Constitution (Article VI, para 1), AMS accepts petitions for direct inclusion of nominees on the ballot.

As we navigate this new era, we are united by a commitment to open science, balanced with the strategic use of proprietary methods, and...
One of the biggest challenges facing the American Meteorological Society is how we connect to our younger members. We only have one AMS Broadcast Conference per year. While many younger meteorologists may be AMS members or working towards earning their seal of approval or even already...
There are tremendous issues facing society today, some enhanced by the changing climate and extreme weather events. Weather, water and climate sciences and service organizations are all on the front lines engaging with our fellow citizens. Making critical observations, developing the basic science to...
