Fifth Conference on Atmospheric Biogeosciences Call for Papers

The Fifth Conference on Atmospheric Biogeosciences, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, was held virtually June 21-23, 2021.  This conference was organized by the AMS Committee on Atmospheric Biogeosciences and jointly held with the 34th Conference on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology.

While papers were solicited on all aspects of surface-atmosphere interactions, topics included:

  • Advances in Solar Induced Fluorescence for Constraining Gross Primary Production and Transpiration
  • Advances in Stable Isotope Techniques for Probing Biogeochemical Cycling at the Surface-Atmosphere Interface
  • Advances in Top-Down and Bottom-Up Approaches for Constraining Biogeochemical Fluxes at Ecosystem to Regional Scales
  • Aerobiology of Spores, Pollen and Microbes
  • Atmospheric-Biogeochemical Cycles at High and Low Latitudes
  • Biogenic VOC and Organic Aerosols
  • Biotic Influences on Atmospheric Biogeochemistry (Microbial; Domesticated Animals and Plant Agroecosystems, Urban)
  • Deposition of Trace Gases and Particles, including Ozone
  • Development and Application of New Instruments and Techniques for Studying Surface-Atmosphere Biogeochemical Fluxes
  • Emissions and Deposition of Reactive Gases and Aerosols and the Terrestrial Biosphere
  • Linkages Between Hydrological Cycles and Biogeochemical Cycles
  • Measurement and Modeling of Reactive Nitrogen Fluxes in Natural and Managed Ecosystems
  • Primary Biological Particles/Bio-aerosols
  • Resilience and Sustainability of Socioecological Systems to Extreme Events
  • Wildfire Impacts and Feedbacks on Biogeochemical and Biophysical Land-Atmosphere Exchange

The Committee on Atmospheric Biogeosciences of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) was proud to present awards recognizing 3 outstanding oral presentations and 3 outstanding poster presentations given by students at the 34th Conference on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology /Fifth Conference on Biogeosciences. These awards recognized outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both the submitted written paper and corresponding oral or poster presentation. Students were asked at the time of the abstract submission if they wanted to be considered for such awards.

An abstract fee of $95 (payable by credit card or purchase order) was charged at the time of submission (refundable only if abstract was not accepted). Authors of accepted presentations were notified by the end of February. Authors of invited and accepted papers were asked to contribute to the web-based proceedings of the symposium by submitting an extended abstract. Instructions for formatting extended abstracts were posted on the AMS conference website. Extended abstracts (file size up to 10 MB) had to be be submitted electronically by 23 July 2021. All abstracts, extended abstracts, and presentations are available on the AMS website.
