Winter weather has impacts on nearly all sectors of the U.S. economy. This briefing will provide an overivew of winter weather forecasting and the impacts that winter weather events have on society. The speakers will discuss recent improvements in winter weather forecasting, the challenges of communicating uncertainty, impacts on the transportation and utilities sectors, and the remaining challenges and areas for improvement. The speakers will compare events from the past winter season to illustrate improvements and lessons learned.
