ORCID Peer Review Activity Credit

ORCID Peer Review Activity Credit for AMS Reviewers

Reviewers for all AMS journals, BAMS, and Meteorological Monographs have the option to credit the Peer Review Activity section of their ORCID record with eligible completed reviews. To register for an ORCID iD or find out more about ORCID, please click here to visit the ORCID website.

How do you choose this option?

When you submit a review in Editorial Manager, you will be asked to allow AMS to update your ORCID record to indicate that you completed a review:

  • To allow AMS to update your ORCID record: Select the Yes radio button
  • To deny permission to update your ORCID record: Select the No radio button
  • To make your selection the default for future reviews: Check the box

You may also change your selected answer for reviews you complete later. The ORCID Reviewer Credit authorization form will be available for each review in your Completed Assignments folder via the action link ORCID Deposit Authorization:

What will happen once you allow AMS to update your ORCID review activity record?

AMS will deposit a record of your review activity with ORCID, and your ORCID record will then be credited. AMS will deposit one record per submission. This means that if you contribute reviews to multiple revisions of the same submission, you will be credited once.

To maintain reviewer anonymity, AMS will:

  • make review record deposits from AMS publications to ORCID in bulk on a monthly basis, and
  • include only the year the review was completed and the journal name. Identifiers such as the month reviews were completed or submission titles will not be included.
