Pre-Event Actions

1.) Print the CDC Fact Sheets for you, your staff and media director.

(In the case of internet disruptions, you'll have a copy on hand).

2.) Know the normal radiation background levels for your broadcast area.

(Ask your local EPA office or contact the Nuclear Regulatory Commission).

3.) Meet with your local/state Emergency Managment assets (fire, police, main hospital administrators, public health officials, NWS Warning Coordinating Meteorologists, and elected officials) to understand the plans in place for your area, and to identify how your communication can help to inform local assets and local population during an event.

You are the critical conduits and informing agents for the first responders and local population.
