  • Connect with experts.
  • Grow personally and professionally.

AMS wants to help you attend our meetings – we offer several support opportunities to make this possible.

The 36th Hurricane Conference will be awarding presentation awards and travel allowance to selected students.

Travel Grants

Student Presenter Travel Allowance is designed to help offset expenses relating to registration fees, transportation costs, food, and lodging for students presenting poster or oral papers. The committee is pleased to offer two (2) student awards of $955 each to attend the 36th Hurricane Conference in May 6-11, 2024. To apply, students should prepare a short written statement (no more than one page) declaring their financial need and circumstance, relevance of their research to the conference, how they will benefit from attending the conference, and a copy of their abstract for the meeting. Travel allowance applications are due March 8, 2024, and should be submitted to the program co-chairs (Naoko Sakaeda and Pablo Santos) at [email protected] and [email protected]. Students selected to receive the travel allowances will be notified by March 29, 2024.

Additional details regarding Student Presenter Travel Allowance:

Travel reimbursement will occur after the meeting. Registration should be handled prior to the travel and during the registration period where possible. Winners should work with their AMS lead meeting planner for both reimbursement and registration.

For non-presenting Students: Student Travel Grants are also available for non-presenting students. The application will be available in late February. Please visit Student Travel Grant Page for more information and to apply.  The application deadline is March 8, 2024.
