Spotlight: Suggest a Session Topic for the 96th AMS Annual Meeting
Whether you are a student, early career, or established scientist, you can help “jazz up” the New Orleans meeting with your ideas for new session topics! If you would like to see a topic added to the sessions described in the Conference & Symposium listing, contact the Program Chairs listed in the conference information to suggest a session topic that is more "in tune" with your interests. Deadline for suggestions is 15 May.

Volunteer Opportunities
The AMS Council is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the drafting committee for updating or creating AMS Statements: one committee will update and revise the AMS Policy Statement on Prediction and Mitigation of Flash Floods (which has expired) and another will be drafting a new Statement on Weather, Water, and Climate Policy Priorities.
The AMS Policy Program has initiated a new discussion on the AMS Policy Forum on needs, opportunities, and priorities in weather, water, and climate. This discussion explores how information provided by our community helps benefit society today and potentially more so in the future. Please visit the forum and contribute to the discussion.

Weatherwise magazine is the perfect graduation present for the weather enthusiast in your life. It is also a great way to thank a science teacher for a job well done and a valuable contribution to your local library or community college. Give the gift of Weatherwise magazine! AMS members pay just $24.95— half the list price— for each six-issue subscription. Contact AMS Member Services ( [email protected]) to place your order.
Many AMS specialty conferences have travel grants (/index.cfm/ams/information-for/students/ams-student-travel-grants/) available for senior undergraduate and graduate students who are student members of the AMS. (Undergraduates must be in their senior year of study at the time of application.)
The Bulletin wants to hear from you! If you are an AMS Member who has recently been promoted, changed jobs, retired, or been honored with an award, send us your news so we can share it with the weather, water, and climate community in the About Our Members section of BAMS. We’re interested in everything AMS members are doing with their careers and in their communities. Please send your news (along with a photo if you have one) to BAMS News Editor Rachel S. Thomas-Medwid.
